Autumn – A time for letting go.

Clearing out emotions that no longer serve us. Decluttering our home, our computer files, our office.

The trees shed their leaves to make room for next year’s new ones. Some animals start to make a store for the winter. We are all getting ready to slow down and move inwards physically and emotionally.

During the last 2 years many things changed. During lockdown and for some time after, charity shops were not taking in new stock.Black sacks full of decluttered clothers. Autumn coloured leaves falling from a tree.

For as long as I can remember, at the start of summer and winter, I have swapped my clothes in my wardrobe with the clothes under my bed.  This process also involves decluttering the clothes that I no longer want.

I have been wanting to declutter for at least a year and just not got round to it!

Last weekend was the time. I got ruthless.

Shoes that I love but no longer fit or are too uncomfortable, finally went. The same with my clothes. It was a frenzy. The result is in the picture!

Decluttering this much stuff really surprised me. No wonder my wardrobe was jammed. It is true – I heard that we only wear about 20% of the clothes in our wardrobe. How crazy is that?

The upside was that I discovered a couple of jackets that I had forgotten about and that still fit. Result!

After I had taken all the bags to the charity shop, I felt so much lighter. I will not wait for 3 years to do this again.
